Online Roulette Strategy

RouletteThe problem with developing a strategy for online roulette is that it is a game of chance in which the odds are exactly the same with each new spin of the wheel. You could very well bet on the same number 50 times in a row and win every time. Of course the chances of that happening are about as good as the chances of my ex wife returning her next alimony check with a hand written letter telling me she doesn’t feel right about accepting it, so I wouldn’t recommend trying it. This doesn’t mean that there is no hope at all for the roulette player though. With a little study and understanding of the wheel and the board you can at least make informed bets which will help you to win over time.

First of all, if you can find a European roulette wheel you’re better off playing on that table. American roulette wheels have an additional pocket on the wheel, the 00 that increases the house odds slightly. Whereas a European roulette wheel only has the one 0 pocket to contend with.

The most sound betting strategies involve outside bets. These are the bets outside the numbers box. You can bet on red,  black, even, or odd, which pay out even money. The other choices for outside bets are first 12, middle 12, and third 12 pay out 3 to 1 and are often a favorite bet. Of course, you don’t get that 35 to 1 payout you would if you hit on any single number, but you do increase your odds of winning with these bets.

According to RouletteBetting.org, a site I have found very interesting to read, one strategy many players will employ is to place their large bets on one of the outside bets on the roulette table, say $50 on black, followed by a few smaller direct bets, say $2, on any numbers they feel lucky about. They might even get a little crazy with it and step it up with something like $50 on black, $20 on middle 12, and 10 $1 bets on a few direct bets within the middle 12 numbers. Basically what they are betting is that one of the middle 12 will hit, guaranteeing them a win with the $20 bet on middle 12. Then hoping to hit the 35 to 1 odds on which they placed their direct bets. Another variation of this strategy is to place the direct bets on numbers outside the middle 12 hoping to give themselves a cushion if their middle 12 bet misses.

Any of these roulette strategies have their own merit, and can work well. Of course if every bet placed misses, you lose a pretty good chunk of money for your efforts. On the other hand, if several of those bets hit, the payout is outstanding. The safest roulette bets are always on the even money bets, (red, black, odd, even) in which you have just under 50/50 odds of winning. You should learn the table and the odds on each of the possible bets. From there you can come up with the betting strategy that works best for you. Just remember, the best strategy you can employ is bankroll management. Manage your bankroll properly and you’ll be glad you did.
