Poker Heaven Review

Poker Heaven has closed.

Poker Heaven was launched in the IPN/Boss Media Network in 2004, licensed in Malta. The online poker room offers acceptable software, good player traffic (up to 15,000 at peak hours) and excellent promotions for new and existing players.

Tournament fans will appreciate a plethora of MTT and SNG events, with lots of freerolls, guarantees and satellites to bigger events, including live tournament prize packages.

Also, if you ever need to get in touch with their customer support service, for whatever reason, you can rely on the fact that their support service via live chat has one of the fastest respond times that we’ve experienced online.

Sign-up to receive a 200% up to €1,000 welcome bonus. Unfortunately, US players are prohibited from playing online at Poker Heaven’s poker room.

Poker Heaven – Welcome Bonus

Poker Heaven has one of the best online poker welcome bonuses, offering new players a 200% up to €1,000 bonus on the first deposit. Deposit anywhere from €10 to €500 to receive the bonus, tripling your starting bankroll. The bonus is released in €5 increments for every 150 poker points earned.

When you sign up your new account with Poker Heaven and make an initial deposit, you’ll also be granted two free entries to the €1,000 New Player Freeroll. This freerolls takes place every Saturday at 18:00 GMT.

Poker Heaven – Software

Powered by Boss Media software, Poker Heaven presents an acceptable poker client with a user-friendly interface. It may not be as explicit as some online poker software brands, but the overall playability and usefulness get an excellent score.

Detailed lobby stats and filtering will players where they’re going in minimal time. In-game stats help to adjust your strategy as you while, while a good hand history function helps to analyze and tweak long-term skills.

Another nice feature is the instant-play Flash version of the software, despite the fact that I don’t recommend the instant-play Flash version for playing on multiple tables simultaneously.

I’ll be completely honest with you, the Boss Media software used by Poker Heaven is not the best when playing on multiple tables. For instance, I personally get a lot of timeouts when playing more than 4 tables at the time, while I can easily play up to 12 tables, even Sit’n’Gos, at the same time at Full Tilt Poker.

Another big miss is that the graphics of the poker tables don’t stay very sharp when you re-size the tables.

Poker Heaven – Games

The game variety at Poker Heaven is better than most, with ll of the standard poker variants and a few extras. Play Texas Holdem, Omaha, Omaha Hi-Lo, 5 Card Stud, 7 Card Stud, 5 Card raw, 5 Card Draw 7-A and SOKO. Most games are available as ring games as well as tournaments. The IPN/Boss Media Network attracts a large player base, enough to keep most games active, at least during peak hours.

Poker Heaven Bad Beat Jackpot

Although I prefer to play tournaments when playing at Poker Heaven, I also play ring games every now and then. My personal favorite are the Bad Beat full ring cash games with €1/€2 blinds, where I usually buy-in with half of the maximum buy-in amount (i.e. €100), and leave when doubling up (i.e. reaching up to €200) and move to a new table. This has proven to be a profitable strategy for me.

The Bad Beat tables are specifically interesting if you have pocket sixes or better and hit quads to be beaten by a better hand. If that’s the case, you will be rewarded with the progressive Bad Beat Jackpot provided by Boss Media/IPN. If you’re the one who’s beating another it’ll be great, or even if you’re just sitting at the table where it’s happening… but make sure not to be sitting out.

There are a few rules to take notice of:

  • Losing hand must be at least quads sixes
  • Both pocket cards must be used to make both the winning and losing hands
  • Must be at least four players in the hand

So what will you get if you’re the lucky loser:

  • Losing hand will get: 35% of the jackpot
  • Winning hand will get: 17.5% of the jackpot
  • All other players dealt into the hand: 17.5% of the jackpot

The remaining part of the Bad Beat Jackpot will be used for administration purposes (10%) and to build up the next jackpot (20%).

Poker Heaven – Tournaments

Poker Heaven runs a lot of everyone’s favorite online poker tournaments – Freerolls! There are more than €20,000 in freeroll prizes awarded each month. €4,000 of that comes from the weekly New Player Freerolls. The rest are daily €50 and €100 freerolls, with the only requirements being 5 raked hands played in the last 24 hours.

One daily €100 freeroll has no requirements at all. A €1,000 weekly freeroll is for all players who participated in 500 raked hands in the last 7 days, and another €10,000 freerolls is held monthly for players who participate in 1,500 raked hands throughout the current month.

There are plenty of guaranteed tournaments as well, with buy-ins of a few dollars scaling up into the hundreds. The biggest guarantee is the weekly €100,000 GTD held each Sunday. Satellites to this tourney run several times a daily. Take the €100K 1 Chip Sat for instance. It has a buy-in of €10+€1, and all players get only 1 chip to play with. Of course this has not much to do with poker, but if you like to gamble…

You can also play in regular Headhunter tournaments, claiming the bounty on the head of each player you eliminate throughout the tourney, plus your share of the prize pool if you finish in the bubble. If you knock out a player in a Headhunter tournament at Poker Heaven you will directly win 75% of the player’s bounty. The other 25% will be added to your bounty. You can understand that the bounties tend to be higher deeper in the tournament. Headhunter tournaments come in various buy-ins. The one that starts at 19:00 has a buy-in of €15+€1.50 and a large player field. Knockout only two players and you’ll be playing a freeroll.

Some of the finest tournaments on Poker Heaven are the so-called Deep Stack tournaments. These multi-table freezeout tournaments, where players start with a larger stack (5000 chips) than when playing in a regular tourney, run several times a day for different buy-ins. My personal favorite starts at 19:30 GMT, the DEEPSTACK €3,500 Guaranteed which has a buy-in of only €20+€2. Usually there are approximately 170 contestants, where 20 of them end In The Money. The first price lays somewhere around €1,000, but also the other top 5 prizes are very worth while playing for. The huge starting stack gives you plenty of time to grind through the first two hours and build up your stack, so you’ll be fine when the serious levels begin.

There’s also a Deep Stack poker tournament that starts at 9:30 GMT. This one is called the DEEPSTACK €3,000 Guaranteed, but opposite to the one I just mentioned, the buy-in is a bit higher; €40+€4. This results in a fewer players field, hence there are also less players ending ITM.

Poker Heaven – Promotions

Poker Heaven hosts a multitude of promotional tournaments and other special rewards.

SNG fans will enjoy the Sit’n’Go League, with €2k up for grabs every week, plus a Multi-Table Leaderboard worth €130,000. If your overall player leaderboard ranking is high enough in MTT and SNG tournaments, you could find yourself sponsored by Poker Heaven, packing your bags for premier poker destinations around the world.

Special tournament promos include a €10k Sunday Headhunter Tournament, €100k Sunday Guarantee and a €100k Free Qualifier sending 10 players to the weekly Sunday GTD. €10k Jackpot Sit’n’Gos are always on the menu.

Poker Heaven is promoting a €25,000 Magic Hand Bonus prize pool. Any player who gets pocket Aces cracked three times can email support with all 3 Hand ID#s and receive a €100 instant cash bonus. The promo will continue until the €20,000 prize pool is depleted.

Referring your friends to Poker Heaven is worth a €50 bonus for each player you successfully refer.

Poker Heaven – Customer Support

Poker Heaven offers both live chat and email support options. The support staff is on hand from 9am – 11pm GMT Monday through Saturday, and 9am to 1pm GMT each Sunday. Be sure to check out the FAQ page for answers to most questions, it can save you a lot of time in the long run.

Most recommended method to contact a support representative is through live chat. The live chat feature can be found on the website, as well in the poker client (see the Support tab).

Poker Heaven – Payments

Poker Heaven uses a cashier hosted by payment provider WebDollar. This means that you can choose from a various amount of payment methods for making a deposit, including Credit Cards (such as Visa, MasterCard, etc.) Click2Pay, ClickandBuy, Moneybookers, NETeller, EcoCard, Paysafecard, Moneta.ru, iDEAL, Ukash, Bank Transfer, and Check/Cheque.

Withdrawals can be made to Credit Cards when applicable, Click2Pay, ClickandBuy, Moneybookers, NETeller, Moneta.ru, and Bank Transfer. Unfortunately withdrawals are not instant. They will be pending in your account a few days before being processed. Pending withdrawals can still be cancelled if you like.

In some case you’ll be asked to submit a security code. This is a personal code that you will receive in an SMS on your mobile phone, and it’s used as an extra security measurement to prevent fraudulent transactions.
